Opinion Piece: Bully rumours and netizen's own assumptions

I had to reply to this, because it’s tiring to see how people take as news the stuff some fans and non fans make up quickly whenever anything happens with AS.

In this case, I bothered to answer because of the obvius:

• Bekah left right after E-Young joined.

If people still want to connect those facts, right. It’s not my interpretation of what happened (which I’ll detail after), but I acknowledge that theories can be made from those 2 facts connected.

• Kaeun joined this year, SHE IS NOT JAPANESE, nor an AVEX trainee and she ended up faking it as Kahi’s replacement, but we all know she was added before Kahi decided on finally graduating this year.
• We also know that Kaeun wasn’t supposed to join right now, but that it was probably Ara (good Japanese, good vocals), YoonJo (visuals, good vocals) or Hyelim’s turn (Lime: good vocals, good rap skills), or even poor Kyungmin, or as she claimed to be supposed to: Nicole.

All this bullying rumors are so bad, by only pointing them without saying names, people are making their own assumptions, I cannot picture Miss Abullying Suzy either, but, hey, at least people are putting together facts (given by this article)

Also, the part that could apply to AS, because of the last member, if it’s notE-Young, then I don’t see Kaeun being the center of bullying. Not that I believe in it, but they say the senior members would force her with the worst outfits or the worst hair styles… and I haven’t seen that happen to Kaeun o.O plus most of the Flashback performances have got the same dresses (and Shampootoo).

Anyway, rumors are as bad as when we jump into conclusions so quickly and blame AVEX, Pledis, whatever, and we don’t even have the eyes to see the facts we are trying to connect are hard (or impossible) to connect.

I remember people accusing Kaeun of being AVEX’ trainee forced to replaceBekah, when Bekah had been out a year already, and Kaeun was there waiting on line and she had Ara, Yoonjo, Hyelim, Nicole, Kyungmin and who knows who else more before she could dream of joining… but then HVhappened, and Nicole’s issue happened, and she was picked because, indeed, her Japanese will be a lot of help whenever they come back to Japan.

Let me just point out that right now, the ones ‘coming back’ there are only Orange Caramel, so Kaeun’s Japanese power relies only on her blogs (to the private Japanese PG, and fansites who leak those) and any small tv/radio appearence they might have, without any new single to promote.

Also, I want to point out the drumline fact. I knew it was impossible for regular Pre-School members to learn such a drum routine in a very short time: It took AS members 9 months! They had to push back that single choice just because of the drumline concept, so: How could possibly an AVEX trainee who wasn’t supposed to join learn it that fast? (E-Young appart)

According to Nicole’s wonderful reactions, and the process of HV’s training and picking up members, the whole thing was faster than we think. They were testing and testing girls, even 1 of the final members quit several weeks before their debut, and, it seems, the Ara/Yoonjo (they always leave Hyelim out, and I start to suspect they had that decision clearer and sooner) switch and the consequent tantrum Nicole had, because she ended up not being picked for none: No HV, no AS. And they were placing Kaeun in front of her, just because her Japanese was more helpful for their Japanese promotions.

I don’t doubt Kaeun’s talent, but I just don’t like to demote the other Pre-School’s talent who could’ve been perfectly picked for this year’s enrollment, at the end what made the difference for Kaeun was the thing she seemed to share with Ara. It is said that Ara’s fluent in Japanese.

I just cannot understand how people make equations without realizing the timeline is a factor they’re missing. Plus, there are several parts that people tend to forget:

.-Bekah’s retirement during HAPPY PLEDIS 2011/Namie Amuro’s collabo.

.-Pledis CEO statement before Namie’s collabo was made that they had called Bekah to ‘come back’ to work, then the collabo popped out and she wasn’t there, and that was because she hadn’t come back yet o.O It was the moment when some of us were wondering what was exactly going on.

.-Virgin/Shampoo come back was already enrolling E-Young

If they wanted to kick her out: Why ask her to come back? Why even bother?

.-AVEX introduced the group first with an image of the girls at their Japanese website Without E-Young, but with Bekah

By the time we were wondering whether E-Young would actually debut with them, since the come back for Shampoo had still to happen.

.-When Virgin had been released, then it was replaced by an image with E-Young and their profiles featured them all.

AVEX quickly appologized at the same time their pasted the news on Bekah’s graduation. Japanese fans weren’t liking it like we did, so I don’t see the connection of AVEX not wanting the American-Korean member in a group where you can add as many members as you feel you have to, since its own concept allows you to do it.

.-Pre-School Girls being introduced, where and when.

.-Hyelim listed as a Pre-School Girl (I cannot really understand why they always mention Ara and Yoonjo and not her, we had to notice ourselves that Hyelim was Lime o.O)

.-Pre-School Girls existence (yeah, kind of blame Pledis for not properly exposing them)

.-Other trainees out of Pre-School existence.

.-AVEX has their own academy, but AVEX forms and eventually ruins their own groups, Prizzmy was their latest (debuted).

.-Son Dambi’s been busy with a drama.

 

Kahi kind of helped form AS, so it was to expect she would decide when and how to graduate, and lately it seemed like she wanted to focus on herself: drama roles, college, she never got her solo debut project where she wanted to.

Also, I’ve recently been understanding more why, out of all the formulas, Pledis’ might chose an enrollments/graduations group for their very first. Not only their low budget, the ‘only one act’ company thing, but also that if Kahi was supposed to be the core of the group, Do you honestly believe at her age she wanted to be part of an idol group for long? Kahi’s always searched for her own debut, out of all the projects she could have chosen for AS, she got a solo, not a sub-unit or a collabo unit (Son Dambi, only at that time), but a solo unit to stand alone against anything else. Surely AS was created with that purpose too: so Kahi could benefit from the goods of being in an idol group and grow as a singer and MC, so she could become second ‘Son Dambi’ of the house one day. In AS she was placed as the leader, the center, the lead vocals (she ended up having more lines than anyone else), and she also contributed so much into their concepts. Maybe because, as hinted by Han Sung Soo, Kahi and Dambi were always meant to be the core of Pledis, inside and outside.

We might get to a point when it’s announced that Kahi’s actually changing agencies, or just leaving the idol market to focus on only acting, getting married, whatever. That could happen, hey, we haven’t got any details on what’s her solo debut supposed to be, so expect whatever. But, until then, we only have facts, and the way to connect them it’s at our choice, but if we try to make our own theories, at least, look at the timeline. [okdr]
